Talking heads

Sometimes you just gotta tell it like it is

Never underestimate the power of looking straight down the lens to talk to your viewer

A good interview film is normally about education, and in this regard it can be far more powerful than words on a page. You’re engaging with a person and delivering a message on a personal level. It shouldn’t just be about reeling off a load of facts and statistics, it should be about telling a truth (thanks Werner Herzog - arguably the greatest interviewer of all time).

Pieces to camera also go beyond just “interviews”. They can be used for practical education too. Training videos, educational videos and tutorial films are all examples of what a person standing in front of a camera is able to do.

Clarity’s messaging aligned itself to filming outside in the (sometimes) lovely British summer

Interview. Talking head. Piece to camera. Whatever you might call it, it’s the staple of getting a clear and concise message across, in a simple, no nonsense package. Videos like this are a huge part of what we do, and whilst they don’t seem particularly exciting or dynamic on the surface, there’s no reason that they can’t be.

The more engaging your video is, the more likely your audience is to absorb the message that you’re communicating. That’s why we’re never fans of just putting people in the office meeting space and pointing a camera at them… unless you’ve got a particularly brilliant office meeting space; then we’ll talk. Everything about your video should speak to what you’re trying to communicate.

“Facts do not convey truth. That's a mistake. Facts create norms, but truth creates illumination.”

- Werner Herzog

Our Three Act Service

Pre

This isn’t just about booking equipment, crew and locations (although this is part of it), no, this is mostly where we get to know you, your brand and your product… and we want to know everything; your goals, your ideas, your hopes and dreams. Yes, and your budget.

Production

Now it’s getting real! The script it locked, cameras are on set, the crew already want lunch and the directors are panicking… fortunately, you’ve hired Belafonte, so none of this is actually true. You’re just having a bad dream, the shoot is going great and they’ve even got your favourite coffee.

Post

Phew! The shoot’s over, now it’s time to kick back and relax. For you, sure, but this is where the real magic happens and we turn all of those gigabytes of footage into something that’s beyond your wildest dreams. We will need a bit of input from you though, it’s your baby after all.
